RETRO PILOT COLECTION
In a collaborative space, students from different backgrounds worked together with Fossil to create different collections. For the Retro Pilot Collection, two Industrial design students and a graphic design student teamed up to develop this concept.
Concept
That bold spirit is brought to life by the legendary test pilot Chuck Yeager. His biggest feat came when he was the first man to fly at the speed of sound in 1947. The retro pilot watch evokes those feelings of strength, boldness, and determination that surround his story. Just as Yeager brought progress to the world of aviation, we have transformed the classic pilot watch, infusing it with visual inspiration from the materials and forms of Yeager’s glory days: from the bird-like Bell X-1 plane he flew at supersonic speeds, to the equipment, gear, and pilot wings he proudly wore. Perfectly suited for everyday use, the retro pilot watch has “the right stuff” to further the adventurous pursuits in Mark’s daily life.
Design Objective

Wingman Collection
This collection brings time to new heights. the markedly graphic face, with details taken from a special cockpit dial of the bell x1, can guid e time in the right direction. just as wingmen help each other in sky, the wingman watch will help keep track of time in a daily life
Supersonic Limited Collection
With an interchangeable, screw off strap, a clean design, smooth case and strong hands, it represent the distinctive graphic faces of the bell x1 cockpit dials, providing both functionality and bold styling
Pilot Cronograph
This watch was particularly inspired by authentic pilot chronographs, while reminding true to Yeager's story through such details and the hands.
